About the event
Come and learn about pawpaw! A little known tree that is native to North America and produces an abundance of tropical tasting fruit each fall. Its short harvest season and even shorter shelf life means these fruits are not commercially grown or found in stores, but the creamy sweet taste is not to be missed!! We will be wandering along some trails and through the woods learning to identify the pawpaw, pick, and eat it before they are gone!
We will arrive/meet at the trailhead. Double check for water bottles, snacks, and bathroom breaks before heading out. We will talk about pawpaws and their traits along the trail. Once we have harvested/snacked all we want we will call it a day.
What to Bring:
- Gloves (work or garden gloves)
- Long pants & good walking shoes
- Water bottle
- Pocket knife and a spoon for eating!
*There is no guarantee for harvesting a pawpaw on this day, but you won't know unless you get your boots on the ground and head out on the trail!
