About the event
This course consists of subjects covering hunter responsibility, ethics, fair chase, history of firearms, firearms basics, ammunition, basic gun safety, field safety, bowhunting, conservation and wildlife management, wildlife of Kansas, outdoor emergencies, Kansas hunting regulations and boating safety for hunters. Where possible, students may live fire and/or go through simulated hunting conditions.
Class is Thursday evening from 6pm - 9pm and Saturday from 9:00am - 4pm. Students must attend both Thursday evening and Saturday class dates/times, and pass the written test on the final day for certification. Class starts promptly as late arrivals may be turned away. Adults/Parents not taking the class can sit in the back of the class, but will not receive materials. Adults with students attending can leave and return before the end of class. We will include a working lunch on Saturday as to meet the minimum class hour requirement, so students will need to bring a sack/box lunch. Breaks will be allowed throughout the class by instructor(s). This class is free and materials provided although suggested that students bring a highlighter.
Students must be a minimum of 11 years old to take the class or on the day of the test, and if a student is already certified in KS or any other state, they do not need the class.
