About the event
Join Wander Woman and Kaw River Adventures for this exciting guided kayaking event where we will spend the afternoon learning how to pack and prepare for an overnight kayak and camping trip. We will then head out on the water to paddle to our camp spot on the bank to set up. Sunday morning we will wake up to finish our float to complete the event.
CANCELATION POLICY: If you can’t attend the event, please get in touch before August 1, 2021 for a refund of half the $60 fee.
If rain affects our trip, we will still paddle all day Saturday but stay in a cabin Saturday evening.
Fee covers food (Saturday lunch, Saturday dinner, Sunday breakfast) and equipment for the trip. BYOB your own kayak if you want!

Depending on the weather the plan will be to teach participants how to properly load a kayak or canoe with the necessary gear required for the activity. We will depart from the cabin between 3:00 pm and 4:00 pm. We will paddle downstream to the campsite where we will select a good location and set camp for the evening. There will be a presentation on some of the details that are necessary when setting camp on a sandbar. We will depart the following morning and end the session at the KAW River State Park on the west side of Topeka. There will be drivers there at the ramp to assist with shuttling participants back to the cabin to get vehicles. Someone will stay with the gear until the participants return to the boat ramp with their vehicles.
