Basic Rifle Course

Join Wander Woman and NRA Instructors for the gold standard Basic Rifle Course.  

This course will be offered over four weeks, and will go over all the ins and outs of rifle safety, handling, maintenance, and selection. 

Session 1-May 10th 5:30 PM : Rifle Knowledge and Safe Gun Handling

• Review entire course objectives
• Identify principal parts of the rifle and action types
• Safe firearm handling

Session 2-May 17th 6PM: Ammunition and Fundamentals of Shooting

• Fire sequence of cartridges
• Ammunition identification and storage
• Cartridge malfunctions

Session 3-May 24th 6PM : Firing the First Shots

• Fundamentals of shooting
• Shooting positions
• Techniques
• Scoring Targets

Session 4-May 31st 6PM: Selecting and Maintaining your Rifle

• Guidelines for selecting and purchasing a rifle
• Cleaning and maintaining your rifle.  Participants may bring their own rifle for cleaning. 
• Exam 

There will be absolutely no live ammunition in the classroom environment, and all firearms will be flagged and handled properly at all times.  

There will be an additional session that will be held at the Range for target practice and shooting position demonstrations. 

Participants who successfully attend all sessions will be provided a NRA Cetificate of Completion.
